Memories of school 1968- 2018

Recording and preserving the memories of former students, staff and members of the local community.

Upton Fifty

Celebrating 50 Years

Upton-By-Chester High school is celebrating 50 years since opening in September 1968 and the Upton 50 group has been collecting oral testimonies and photographs from former students, staff and their families.

History Teacher, Ciaran Doherty, leading on the collection of oral memories said ‘The History department is delighted to have the opportunity to play a leading role in the Oral History Project, which is central to the school’s 50th anniversary celebrations.’

The Oral History Project

A Source of New Insights and Perspectives

The Oral History project has enabled us to reflect on the school’s journey, cultural heritage and the contribution it has made to the local community over the past 50 years, providing a source of new insights and perspectives whilst promoting inter-generational collaboration.

We have recorded the memories of former students, staff and members of the local community in this unique project, which will then be available for display around the local community.
